For the life of me, I don’t really know why I have not shared this publicly, since I am in the business of helping women to lose weight and change their relationship with food and body, and it does make a lot of sense to share my story, so here goes…
Last week I attended an incredible 3 day Life, Leadership & Business Retreat run by the amazing Jodie Nevid from The Seven Effect, and it was called Freedom Fest.
There were a host of wonderful speakers, and one of the speakers, Amelia Ryan, who, among other things, is a Cabaret Performer. Amelia told us a very real and raw story of how she came to be where she is today...
One of the big issues my clients face is Self-Sabotage. It's one of the most common and most frustrating challenges that comes up when they’re trying to lose weight!
Has this happened to you? You’ve been on this great diet and everything is going well. You’re eating healthy foods, exercising most days, making great choices and following the plan. You’ve been getting great results, have loads more energy and you’re feeling amazing!
Creating Healthy Foundations to support your Weight Loss Goal
November 16, 2022
When we start anything new, we begin with a measure of enthusiasm and a goal in mind. Generally, our initial efforts are consistent, & then over time, consistency and enthusiasm begins to wane until eventually we start to focus on the reasons why we cant do the thing we started out wanting to do.
It usually sounds a little like this…..”I ran out of time” “I’m too tired today” “I forgot to……….& I have to get that done instead” until eventually it becomes an avoidance, rather than a focus.
“It’s always better to maintain than it is to regain.” -Michelle Hyman
Has this ever happened to you? It may even be happening right now!!
You’ve been following your healthy eating and exercise plan to the letter & you’ve made significant changes to your lifestyle and health regime, and you’ve been watching your weight steadily decrease and you’re feeling pretty good!!
Then out of nowhere… the scales stop moving, & you’re not shrinking like you used to….infact, you feel like everything has stalled!

A common thread that comes up when I'm working with women is that they are invariably overwhelmed and in a daily battle to keep up with all the things they have given themselves to do, rarely getting through their never-ending to-do list, and feeling out of control, just surviving instead of thriving.
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” Lao Tzu
Have you ever had a goal, a dream, or simply wished for something? I dare say you have.
You may have heard or remember these timeless sayings; “make a wish” and blow out the candle or ‘if you can dream it you can do it’ or “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”
And I love each of these sayings because they instil hope and aspiration to do more, be more, achieve more.
Just in case you didn’t know, I went on a very long walk last Friday to raise money for Mental Health that was organised by Coastrek Wild Women on Top and it was totally EPIC!!
This was one of the most well organised and inspiring events that I have ever done and I was blown away by the level of support, information and inspiration both before and during the event. We totally had soooo much fun and in between the “how much further”? questions, we laughed and laughed!
Fear of losing Weight – the part of us that wants to keep us safe…
August 31, 2022
I’ve heard this many times from women who have struggled their whole lives with weight, women who have been dieting for decades to be that slimmer, lighter & fitter version they have always dreamed about….
To be able to lose the weight they have always wanted, begins to feel like the impossible dream….. always striving, thinking, dieting, exercising…..but never quite getting there….
Did you know that what you say and how you say it would affect the ability of your body to process and convert what you eat and drink? This is called digestive metabolism and it’s the way our body produces and uses energy.
If your goal is to lose or maintain weight, then it's helpful to know how to enhance your results, right?
And so, it makes sense to be mindful of what we say to ourselves.
Scientific studies show that messages sent from our mind which are created by our emotions have physical effects on our body. These messages are sent via neurotransmitters as chemical messengers. They can affect our blood pressure, heart rate, sleep patterns, and the way we eat.
As humans, we are eaters, and there is a way to eat that enables the body to fully maximise the power of our metabolism – which is the chemical process that is necessary to maintain life.
When it comes to our digestive system, it is the process by which our body converts what we eat and drink into energy – simply put - food and drink are combined with oxygen to release energy to allow our body to function.
If you identify as being an Emotional Eater, then this is my advice....
Focus on becoming the best version of you......
When we are focussed on the worst version of us, we will continue to come up with all the reasons WHY we are not who we want to be.
Do you hear yourself saying either directly or indirectly through unconscious thoughts and actions, things like....I hate the way I look, my clothes are too tight, I feel tired all the time, I can't be bothered, why can they eat whatever they want and I can't? I feel uncomfortable. I've got no energy. Why can't I look like they do? I need to get rid of these rolls, my jeans are too tight...
