Did you know that what you say and how you say it would affect the ability of your body to process and convert what you eat and drink? This is called digestive metabolism and it’s the way our body produces and uses energy.
If your goal is to lose or maintain weight, then it's helpful to know how to enhance your results, right?
And so, it makes sense to be mindful of what we say to ourselves.
At the core of the Mind’s Language, there are two basic forms – Figurative language, and Literal language. So, when we use a “figure of speech”, our mind interprets it literally.
For example, if you said that you were “devastated” that you didn’t get that promotion….your mind will create the emotional response of “devastation” which could be quite out of context to the actual situation and cause unnecessary feelings of sadness, stress or distress.
In my mind, when I hear the word ‘devastation’, I think about the bombing of Hiroshima…..which is in context to the use of the word devastation.
We can unknowingly create an emotional state of mind that is quite out of context to what actually occurred. For example, if you said you were “really disappointed” you didn’t get the promotion, which is more in context to the event, your stress levels will be much milder and quicker to dissipate.
When we are cultivating, holding or feeding big heavy emotions, the body will go into a stress or fight or flight response, which tells it to store fat and not build muscle, which is exactly what you don’t want to do if your goal is to lose weight.
Have you ever been aware of your negative self-talk? Do you find yourself saying the same derogatory, belittling & unkind things to yourself day in day out? Maybe it’s not the actual words, but a negative feeling that comes up every time you see yourself in the mirror, for example.
If this is you, then you are creating habitual thought patterns that are subconsciously self-perpetuating in your life. This might look like self-sabotage, low self-esteem & self-worth, feelings of "I’m not good enough"…etc.
If your literal subconscious mind is constantly being provided with unhelpful negative thoughts, it will actually support those negative thoughts…..because that’s what our subconscious mind does – it supports any thought we have.
The Remedy
Use the power of your imagination to support your thoughts, actions and behaviours. Our mind cannot tell the difference between what is real and what is imagined. When we begin to use our imagination and think about the things that we WANT in life, then our subconscious mind will support our dreams and goals.
In this way, we can create our own subconscious program and patterns of behaviour by changing our thoughts and the language that we use in our minds.
Visualization is one way of creating a new thought process. This is a very powerful technique to tap into the mindbody connection and many scientific studies show that results are enhanced when our minds are used in this way.
This is where Hypnosis will enhance the power of mind imagery and visualisation to achieve a desired outcome.
